Route Companion
what’s new
Every update, newest first. Your version is at the bottom of your route page. When a new one is out, a green Update banner appears on the route page. Usually one tap installs it; when a version needs a step first, its entry here and the banner say so.

LatestVersion 2026.11.03.154- A Shift booked in Time To Pet sets that sitter’s hours. If you book a Shift in Time To Pet to show when a sitter works, choose Their shift (sets their hours, not a visit) for that service on the Set up page. Each one then sets that sitter’s hours for the day to the time it is booked for, always wide enough for the visits booked with them, and the rest of the day stays open for visits. A service called exactly Shift, Work Shift, Staff Shift, Availability, Working Hours or Schedule Block with no real client on it is read this way already; anything else that only sounds like a shift (On Call, 2 Hours) stays a visit and Set up asks about it. The sitter’s card says “Hours from Time To Pet shift: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM”. Their own In or Out on Shifts, approved time off and When I Work still come first.
- Someone new in Time To Pet is pointed out. When a Daily Summary you send or paste is booked with someone who is not on your Staff tab, the answer and the bell say so, with Add as a sitter and Not a sitter. Nothing is added or changed until you tap one, and their visits wait unassigned. A name close to someone already there (a typo, a first name, Last First) asks Did you mean, words like Office, Unassigned or your business name are left alone, and someone marked as left is listed, never brought back for you.
- This morning’s visits stay with who Time To Pet has them with. Rerouting in the afternoon no longer lists this morning’s visits under Could not be scheduled when Time To Pet has them with someone on your Staff tab, even someone marked out today: they stay on that sitter’s card at their booked time, marked booked in Time To Pet, time has passed. One booked with nobody, or with someone not on your Staff tab, still asks you to check whether it was done in Time To Pet.
- Updates at the top of the page. When a new version is ready, the box with Update now is now the first thing on the route page, above Route Plan, and the first item in the Route Planner menu and on the Set up page.
- “Any sitter” is not a skill. If you typed “any sitter”, “anyone” or “none” where a skill goes, Route Companion now reads it as no skill needed. Before, every visit with it waited for a sitter with a skill called “any sitter”.
- Sitters stay in their usual areas. Most teams split the town up, and each sitter has the part they usually cover. Route Companion now learns that from your own bookings (the last six weeks and the next two) and keeps each sitter there when it reroutes, with Fewest changes and Best routes alike. A visit only goes to someone from another area when nobody who works its area can fit it, and its card then says so, for example “in North & East, outside Jess’s usual area”. A visit nobody in its area can fit goes to the nearest sitter with room, marked on its card; only when even that would leave a visit without a sitter is the day planned as before, and the before-and-after card says why. The sitter Time To Pet booked, your pins, Give to a sitter and your client flag rules always stand. There is nothing to set up: it is on by itself. To see what it learned, open More › Set up and find the card Your sitters’ usual areas. It lists each sitter with their areas and visit counts. For anyone it got wrong, tick their right areas (or Anywhere) and press Save; your choice is kept on the Staff tab and always wins. Learn again relearns straight away. With under about two weeks of bookings it waits and plans as before. To switch it off: Settings › Sitters & priority › Keep Sitters In Their Usual Areas.
- Far fewer long waits between nearby visits. A reroute no longer parks a sitter for most of an hour a few minutes from the last client just so a later visit can sit tight against the next one: the visit stays at the time the sitter can be there, and the slack goes to the end of the day or before the visit that has to wait. Some waits are real (a booked or exact time, a window that opens later), and when one is left the card says why. Drive times between neighbours are shorter too: an old drive-time estimate that added a quarter of an hour to every drive is no longer used, and Check my data says so if your workbook had one.
- The card says why a sitter is waiting. When a sitter waits more than 15 minutes before a visit, the stop card says so and why, for example “Waiting 30 min for its window to open at 11:00 AM” or “Waiting 45 min: kept at its booked time (could start 8:55 AM)”. Tap why? next to a visit’s time for the drive broken down: the minutes driving, the distance, your buffer and where the drive time came from. Check my data lists the long waits between nearby visits in the next seven days.
- Drive time already in your visit lengths. If you book every visit a little longer to leave room for the drive (a 30-minute walk booked as 40), tell Route Companion how many minutes that is: Settings › Driving & timing › Drive Time Already In Visit Lengths. Each visit is planned that much shorter, with the real drive before it, so the drive is not counted twice.
- Arrive by, or done by. A new setting, A Visit’s Window Means, says whether a client’s window is when the sitter arrives (the usual) or when the visit is over. Choose Finish within it and a 30-minute visit in a 2 to 4 PM window starts by 3:30.
- Two windows a day, or as late as possible. A client walked twice a day can have both windows in TimingDefault on the Clients tab, like 9-11, 3-5: each visit gets the window nearest its booked time. late 4-7 plans the visit as close to 7 as the day allows, for a dog that should be the last visit of the evening.
- A weekly cap, and the owner for the clients who ask. Add a MaxVisitsPerWeek column on the Staff tab to cap anyone’s visits Monday to Sunday. And a client whose first Preferred sitter is your last-resort sitter, often you, now gets you when the other sitters they prefer cannot fit it, while everyone else’s visits still go to you only when nobody else can take them.
- Grooms and boarding stay where they are. A service you have not sorted yet whose name says groom, grooming, boarding or at the sitter’s home (and nothing like walk, visit, drop-in, hike, meds, feed, care, taxi, pickup, in-home, mobile or your home), and that someone is booked for, is now kept with the person it was booked to, off the map, from the start, so a reroute never hands it to someone else. Bath & Walk, Medication + Bath and Boarding Check-in Visit stay visits, and Check my data lists what is treated this way. Set up lists the services treated this way with Keep as a visit beside each one, and the ones it is only suggesting (like nails) with a box to untick. A service you have already sorted is never changed, and a day already planned says when one of these comes off a route.
- Bedtime visits late in the evening block. Settings › Time blocks has a new choice for each block: Early (usual) or Late. Set your 4 to 7 PM block to Late and every visit in it is planned as late as the route allows, so bedtime drop-ins land near 7, not at 4. It also works on the Time Blocks tab, in a Place in block column.
- Late really is late. A visit timed late now aims for the end of its window (20 minutes before it ends unless you change it) even when the sitter’s hours end with the window, on a day with only that visit, and without pulling the visits before it back to the morning. How late is yours to set: Settings › Late Visits Aim For (minutes before the window ends) is 20 unless you change it, so for a 4–7 PM window and 30 a late visit aims to start about 6:30 PM, and 0 means as late as the window allows. One client can have their own (late 30 in TimingDefault), and so can one block (Late 30 in Place in block); a number from 1 to 12 needs min after it (late 5 min), because late 5 could be 5 PM, and Check my data says so. A client’s plain late keeps its block’s own minutes. Late is a preference: when nothing late fits, the visit is placed earlier in its window and its card says so (“Wanted late; placed at 5:58 PM because nothing later fitted”), under Fewest changes and Best routes alike. Under Fewest changes, Settings › If A Late Visit Can’t Go Late set to Leave it waiting has it wait for you with the reason instead; Best routes always places it. Its why? line says the aim. A third window after an afternoon one, like 9-11, 3-5, 7-9, is read as the evening.
- Staff flags from your Staff file. The nightly backup has no staff file, so a flag you change on a sitter in Time To Pet only reaches Route Companion when you bring in the Staff file. That import now brings everyone already here up to date: a new flag that the Staff Flags tab turns into a skill is added, a flag taken off in Time To Pet takes its skill off, a blank email is filled, and anyone inactive in Time To Pet stops being planned. Skills you typed, hours, most visits, priority and areas stay as they are, and the summary says what changed. If it has been more than two weeks, Set up reminds you, with the import right there, and the bell says so once a week.
- Who Time To Pet uses that you have not added. Check my data now lists staff names on recent or upcoming visits that are not on your Staff tab, with how many visits each, so a new hire is never missed.
- Hours that end at 9:30 in the morning. Business hours written like 7 to 9:30 or 8-5, with no am or pm, now read the end as the evening, and Settings says how it read them. If most of your team’s hours end before noon, Check my data asks whether you meant PM, lists them, and one tap (Make these PM) fixes the ones you tick. A visit nobody can take because everyone’s hours end in the morning says that, instead of a puzzle.
- Do Not Schedule names that are close, not exact. A Do Not Schedule name Time To Pet sends that is only close to a sitter’s name (a first name, a last initial, a middle name) is no longer matched for you: it is listed in the import summary and in Check my data with the sitter it could be, so you type the exact name once. A sitter whose own name has an & in it, like a couple’s shared account, is matched whole.
- Flags safe on a bad night. When a backup comes through with the Flags column blank for everyone, or most clients would lose every flag at once, nothing is taken off that night. Sorting only some columns of the Clients tab no longer mixes up whose flags are whose.
- Reroute just some sitters, with your placeholder account. Ticking your placeholder or holding account under Which sitters? used to stop the reroute. Its visits now go to the sitters you picked with it, and ticking it on its own says what to do.
- Client flags with your own skill name. A Client Flags row where you typed a Skill Name but left Treat As blank is now offered under Areas and skills from your flags, and saying yes fills in that row.
- No Key Needed from the client file. Bringing in your Time To Pet client file now reads its No Key Needed column, as the nightly import does: those clients’ keys are kept as backups only, never a pickup or a handoff.
- Updates on a company Google account. When Update now stops with “serviceusage.services.enable”, it now says plainly that your Google Workspace admin has to allow it, with the steps to send them.
- No Update now button, or no Route Planner menu. With several Google accounts signed in to one browser, Google opens the page and the spreadsheet as the first one, so you were not recognised as the owner. The update box and owner-only messages now say so and what to do (a window signed in only to your account), and a company account gets a link that lets you choose the account.
- Do Not Schedule always wins. When you add a sitter to a client’s Do Not Schedule in Time To Pet, the next nightly import brings it in, and the next time that day opens the visit comes off their day, even on a day already planned. It goes quietly to someone else who fits without moving anyone, or waits under Could not be scheduled with the reason, for example “Nora now excludes Sam (Do Not Schedule in Time To Pet)”. Time To Pet often keeps the booking with that sitter, so the visit’s card and the Time To Pet list say to move it there. The excluded sitter’s own day may shift by up to 10 minutes; everyone else’s stays.
- Do Not Schedule names written your way. A Do Not Schedule written as Last, First, with several names, semicolons or odd spacing, or spelled a little differently from your Staff tab, now finds the right sitter. A name that matches nobody on your team is listed in the import summary so you can check the spelling.
- Client flags stay up to date. The nightly import now keeps your Time To Pet client flags current for clients you already have: a new flag is added to Skills, and a flag Time To Pet no longer has comes off. Anything you typed yourself stays, and your TimingDefault, Area and only: lists are never touched. A client marked inactive in Time To Pet’s Status becomes Former, and a pet newly marked as needing medication makes its upcoming visits ask for it. A Do Not Schedule taken off in Time To Pet is listed for you to check, never removed for you. Bringing in your client file does the same.
- Your plans stay as they are. Days already on your route page keep their plan until you press Reroute, and Reroute is still Fewest changes unless you pick otherwise: the sitter Time To Pet booked keeps each visit wherever it fits their day.
29 October 2026
Version 2026.10.29.153- Reroute just one or a few sitters. Reroute now asks Which sitters? All is still the usual, or tick just the ones you want, and everyone else keeps their day exactly as it is. Each sitter’s card has Reroute just and their name for one tap. Visits only move between the sitters you picked, a visit waiting for someone can go to one of them, and the Time To Pet list only has their changes. After a cancellation partway through the day, that sitter’s card and the cancel message also offer Move the rest of the day up when it saves 5 minutes or more: the visits after the gap, in the same order, each as early as its window, the drive and the sitter’s hours allow. Nobody else’s day changes, and I tell you how much earlier they finish and how many changes are on the Time To Pet list.
- Keys when you reroute just some sitters. When you reroute just some sitters, I now plan them around the key handoffs they share with the sitters you kept, instead of only flagging them. A sitter you picked meets a kept one where and when the kept sitter already is, or collects the key from the key point the kept sitter already leaves it at, and a sitter you picked who has the key comes to the kept sitter’s handoff, or leaves it at the key point in time. The kept sitters’ days do not change, except that a stop to leave or hand over a key nobody needs from them any more comes off, and the before-and-after card says so. When nothing fits, the visit and Needs a look say to arrange the handoff.
- Staff hours from When I Work. If you schedule your team in When I Work, bring the schedule and the approved time off in on the Set up screen. Export the schedule from When I Work, open the Schedules tab in Google Sheets or Excel, download it as CSV (or copy and paste it), and bring it in. Each shift becomes that sitter’s hours for the day. I only change the people in the file, training and office shifts are not visit time (you can change which positions count in Settings), and approved time off wins. Anyone you mark in or out yourself on the Shifts screen keeps your choice.
- A time in the event note sets the window. With the nightly Time To Pet backup import on, a note on a Time To Pet event that asks for a time, like “between 9 and 11”, “prefers 9am-11am”, “come after work 5-7”, “arrive by 10”, “after 2” or “at 5:30”, becomes that visit’s window, even when Time To Pet booked it at another time. Tap why? next to the visit’s time and it says so. Notes about the client’s own hours or a gate code are left alone, and a Daily Summary paste keeps the note’s time over the requested block, and a medication time from the pet’s Med Window too.
- Area flags as rules, in one tap. If your Time To Pet client flags use the same word as a skill your sitters have (an area like Northside, or first walk certified), Set up and Check my data now list them with a Make them rules button. Tick the ones that should decide who goes and only sitters with that skill get those visits. Nothing changes until you say so. Check my data also lists flags on 3 or more clients that are only labels.
- Quiet a test copy, and know which workbook is writing. Every email a workbook sends on its own now names the business in the subject, for example “Route Companion today (Lakeside Pet Care): 3 things need you”. If you own more than one workbook, turn the others off: More › Set up, the card Emails from this workbook, Stop emails. The bell on the route page still shows everything, and an email you ask for by hand still goes.
- Fill your time blocks from any Daily Summary. Settings › Time blocks has a Fill from a Daily Summary button. Paste any day’s Daily Summary from Time To Pet and I add each block it names with its hours, so the list is ready without typing. Nothing on that day changes, and a block you typed yourself is never changed.
- An as-booked day says so. Right after a Daily Summary, the day on the page is Time To Pet’s own routes. The banner and the map now say that plainly, with what a reroute would save once Compare has run, so two sitters crossing town reads as the booking, not as a plan.
- Outside a sitter’s hours, on the card. A visit sitting outside its sitter’s hours, for example on a day as booked, has an amber tag on the stop card with their hours, and the sitter’s card counts them.
- The Time Blocks tab fills itself. Each requested block your Daily Summary names with its hours goes on the Time Blocks tab by itself the first time you bring a summary in, so the tab is not empty after setup. Rows you typed are never changed.
21 October 2026
Version 2026.10.21.148- Your route page link opens for everyone. A Google Workspace account (your own domain, not gmail.com) was handed a route page link with your domain in it, and that link only opened for people signed in to your company account: a sitter in a private tab saw “Sorry, unable to open the file at this time”. Every link Route Companion hands out is now the plain form that opens for anyone, and a link you saved earlier is corrected the next time it is read.
- Client exports with the name column anywhere. Some Time To Pet accounts export the client list with Preferred first and the name under “Full Name”, and every client came in under their preferred sitter’s name. Both the file import and the nightly Dropbox import now find the name column by its heading. A pets file that calls the pet “Pet Name” is read too.
- Mark out stays out. A sitter you marked Out on Shifts stayed out only until the next availability paste put them back. Your Out now stands until you put them back in yourself.
- A day as booked keeps to the booked minute. When a visit cannot start at its booked minute (the one before it runs late, or the drive is long), it is now laid out at the nearest minute the route allows, not the far end of its window. That also takes the stray “time to change in Time To Pet” lines off days nobody rerouted.
- Unpin a visit that could not be placed. A pinned visit that does not fit its sitter’s day now has an Unpin button on the Could not be scheduled card.
- A rule typed on a tab shows up on the page. A line you add or delete by hand on Special Times, Service Skills, Time Blocks or the other rule tabs is picked up at once on a workbook with the edit watcher, and within five minutes on one without it. Before this, a quick page action could keep an older copy of the tab for hours.
- Quicker page loads and taps. Opening the route page, changing days, a pin, a mark out or a reroute each make far fewer trips to Google than before: the page reads your settings once, fetches the small reference tabs in one go, and a quick action no longer makes the next load re-read them. The first open of the day still reads everything once; after that, a load or a tap makes about half the trips it did.
19 October 2026
Version 2026.10.19.145- Why a visit is at that time. Tap why? next to a visit’s time on the route page. One line says what set it: the time Time To Pet booked, the start of its window, the drive from the stop before, the sitter’s hours or break, or a rule such as spacing or a dog’s last visit of the day. The same line is in the visit’s details.
- Days a week, with an availability paste. MaxDaysPerWeek now works when you bring in availability from Time To Pet. Past their days for the week, a sitter is planned only when you mark them in yourself (Mark in or Working today on Shifts) or Time To Pet has booked them that day.
- Walkers and Google. A sitter set to Travel = Walk no longer buys drive times from their home or road lines for their day, which is planned at walking pace and drawn as straight lines on the map.
- Familiar Staff, tidier. Unassigned, holding accounts and Placeholder rows never count as a sitter who has been to a home, and archived visit history is read once instead of on every tap.
- Remove duplicate Shifts rows from the spreadsheet. Route Planner › Schedule › Availability & time off › Remove Duplicate Shifts Rows does the same as the button under Check my data.
17 October 2026
Version 2026.10.17.143- Sending the Daily Summary starts the day over. A full Daily Summary send puts the day back to exactly what Time To Pet has booked, every time, even if you had rerouted it before. Pin what should stay, then Reroute when you want a plan.
- Pins and Give-to never lose to a reroute. A pin, an unpin or a Give-to tapped while a reroute is still running waits for it and then goes through, instead of coming back with “That did not save”.
- One-visit changes answer in seconds. Give-to, pins and timing picks no longer fetch drive times from Google; they use what is already on file. Reroute still does, so Compare keeps its real numbers.
- A changed time closes the gap. When you change one visit’s time on a day you already planned, the visits before it on that sitter’s route move later inside their own windows to meet it, instead of leaving an hour’s gap.
- Completed visits count as familiar. A visit on your Visits tab for a day that has passed, with a sitter on it, now counts toward Familiar Staff, so a new sitter’s first week makes them familiar without sending the Visits report first.
- Booked outside the block? The booked time wins. A visit booked at a time outside the block it names keeps a window around its booked time, for every species. The Daily Summary answer counts them.
- Time windows the way you type them. TimingDefault on the Clients tab takes 11-2, 11am-2pm, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, a Time Blocks name, anytime or exact. Repair My Tabs turns a cell Sheets made into a date back into text and keeps those columns as text. Check my data names any it cannot read.
- Add a service by hand. Set up › Your services has an Add a service manually box for a service your Time To Pet export did not include.
- Longest day, days a week, walkers. Three new Staff columns: MaxHoursPerDay (a sitter’s day never runs past it), MaxDaysPerWeek (once they have that many days with visits this week they sit out the rest, with a note; a Shifts In row overrides), and Travel = Walk (walking time, no car buffer, no miles).
- Availability grace. A Settings minute count that lets a visit start that much before a sitter’s hours or end that much after, flagged on the card.
- Cleaner imports. A client on two rows with one email merges on import (the row with pets is kept). Time off and availability imports skip rows already on the tab. Check my data lists clients who share a name on one line and offers to remove duplicate Shifts rows.
14 October 2026
Version 2026.10.14.140- A late dog visit stays late. With Dog: Last visit of the day no earlier than set, a dog visit booked at or after that time is never planned before its booked time, even when the Requested Block opened earlier. If nobody has room that late it goes to Not placed and says so.
- No time changes for driving nudges. On a day laid out as booked, a visit a few minutes off its booked time but still inside its window is not listed as a change to make in Time To Pet. A visit pushed outside its window still is.
- Visits that left Time To Pet leave the plan. When you send a Daily Summary, a visit it no longer shows (moved or cancelled since the import) comes off the day by itself, and the answer names it. A visit already done, placed by hand, booked with a sitter the summary does not show, or of a service it does not show is kept and named. A paste of a few lines never takes anything off.
- The change list starts from what is booked. Sending a Daily Summary resets the Time To Pet list to compare against the sitters Time To Pet has, so an old I've updated Time To Pet does not leave stale changes on the list.
- No time changes for visits already past. A visit whose booked time has passed today is never listed as a time to change in Time To Pet.
- The list in time order. Sitter changes, new visits and visits taken off are one list, earliest first.
- Keep as it is counts right. On a day laid out as booked, Compare shows 0 changes, with a note for visits driving pushes off their booked minute.
14 October 2026
Version 2026.10.14.138- Skip keeps it as booked. Skip on the Time To Pet list keeps the visit with the sitter Time To Pet has, at its booked time. If their day cannot fit it, it is still on their card, flagged, and the list never asks you to change its time.
- The booked sitter on every visit. A visit booked at a set time, with no requested block, now comes in from the Daily Summary with its sitter. Before, some came in with nobody booked.
- One at a time. After a reroute, the list of changes to make in Time To Pet can show one change at a time, in time order. Make it in Time To Pet however you usually do, tap Done, and the next one comes up. Tap as fast as you like: lines you tick or skip stay gone, and the saves go through one at a time, with a small Saving line until they are all in.
- Pages in a narrow window. When Time To Pet folds some of a page’s columns away (the green + at the start of each row), the Daily Summary and the Visits report are no longer half-read: nothing is brought in and the answer says how to show them. A new Send button reads them anyway: get it from Show my button.
12 October 2026
Version 2026.10.12.130- Compare first stays open. The comparison no longer closes a second after you open it when Time To Pet’s list of changes finishes loading.
- Try another way. After a reroute, the before and after card offers the other ways to plan the day: Fewest changes, Best routes, Compare first, or Back to as booked, which puts the day back the way Time To Pet booked it so you can pin and choose again.
- Services always at their booked time. A new setting for services that must happen exactly when booked, like a pet taxi pick up and drop off. Type part of each service name and those visits keep their exact time on every reroute.
- Every visit in a revenue report counts. Two identical lines in a Visits report are two visits, so both are brought in. Sending the same report again does not double them.
- Easier Daily Summary answers. The answer after sending a Daily Summary is in short paragraphs, and a visit whose client shows as cancelled in the summary says so.
- Requests and grooms. Checking a request skips services that are not visits a sitter drives to, such as a groom, and no longer treats your business account as the sitter the client asked for.
11 October 2026
Version 2026.10.11.129- Never more driving than as booked. A reroute is now measured against the day as Time To Pet booked it, on the same visits. If it would drive more and place no more visits, the day stays as booked and the page says so, with the reason (a setting such as Keep each sitter’s day together or Minimum Visits, or a search that found nothing shorter) and a Use it anyway button. Fewest changes keeps each sitter’s booked order whenever it is shorter, and tries harder to keep a visit with its booked sitter before giving it to anyone else. The before and after card and Compare first show whole-day driving and visits placed on both sides, not a subset.
- A plan you already rerouted stays put. A second reroute is measured against the plan on screen, not only the day as booked. If it would add driving without placing more visits, your plan stays and the page says so, with Use it anyway. The banner above a held day follows Compare: a choice Compare would not offer is shown with its cost instead of as the main button.
- Reroute and the banner agree. When a reroute is refused because it would add driving, the banner above that day stops offering the same choice and shows its cost instead. Reroute asks before trying a refused choice again, and the reroute calendar marks days whose plan was kept.
- A kept plan still follows your rules. A visit with a sitter the client does not want is never counted in the kept plan's favor, so a reroute that fixes it goes through. The reason shown names only the settings that mattered on that day.
- Your call, every time. When a rule says a sitter can't take a visit (a skill they don't have, a client who excludes them, a service they don't do) or they aren't working that day, Give to a sitter anyway, a pin, Pin these and dragging a visit now ask you instead of refusing. Say yes and it's done, and the plan keeps that visit with that sitter, on their card even if it runs past the end of their day.
- Who has room for a request. Press the Send button on a request still waiting for your answer in Time To Pet, and it tells you, for each visit in the next two weeks, which sitters have room and how much driving each adds, and whether the sitter the client asked for can take it. It only reads: nothing is approved or booked. Pressed on the screen right after you approve, it brings the approved visits in.
- The Send button on the Visits report. On Time To Pet's Visits report, a client's tags sit under their name, and the button read each visit as two broken rows, so nothing came in. It now reads one row per visit and keeps the tags out of the client's name.
- The Send button on the Daily Summary. On some Daily Summary pages the Send to Route Companion button answered that the page was not one of the reports it reads. It now sends the Daily Summary whatever grouping the page is shown in. Your button keeps working; nothing to drag again.
- Pages that look different. The Send button and the paste box now read a Daily Summary however Time To Pet lays it out: the date and time on separate lines, Requested Block on its own line, or key badges on their own line. A page split into pages by Time To Pet is refused with what to do instead of bringing in part of a report.
- Revenue from a file. Bring in revenue and hours actually worked take the CSV file Time To Pet downloads: tap Choose the CSV file and pick it. No more copying a year of visits by hand. Pasting still works.
- A calmer morning brief. The email opens with good morning and the size of your day, then a few things to look at, each with what to do next. Visits still needing a sitter count as one thing, not one per visit, so the subject line no longer jumps to a big number.
- Days with nothing on them yet. A date with no visits brought in now shows Start here, so you can paste that day's Daily Summary and its visits come in.
- A quicker Settings screen. Settings opens in one step instead of three, and Save no longer rewrites every visit unless you changed Manual Visit Flex.
- Bedtime visits for dogs, second look. A bedtime visit moved to the last-visit time now has until 10 PM to be placed, and if nobody can take it, it keeps its booked time instead of dropping off the plan. Pinning it keeps the move. Salon bookings held on a groomer's day sit at their booked time and name the client.
- Check My Data and your flags. A client flag you mapped to a skill on the Client Flags tab, or a staff flag mapped on the Staff Flags tab, now counts in Check My Data the way it does in planning, so it no longer warns that nobody has a skill somebody has.
- Who Is Irreplaceable? and your tags. The report counted every Time To Pet tag on a client (an area, Regular Dog Walking, Template) as something a sitter must have, so long-standing clients showed nobody able to take them. It now reads tags the way planning always has: only a tag you mark Skill on the Client Flags tab limits who can go.
- Reports read your team the way planning does. Who Is Irreplaceable? and What Should I Change? honor only: lists and skip sitters who have left. Compare Schedule Changes matches a client with or without their pets in the name, so it no longer adds a second visit.
- Am I Growing? says level when it is level. Two quarters that match no longer read as down on every measure. A few other reports tidy their counts, plurals and dates, and $ per hour by sitter only counts revenue from the days they clocked.
- Nightly import, two more things right. A visit Time To Pet cancelled is taken off even when it belongs to a group walk, and a visit Time To Pet unassigned no longer keeps its old sitter. A client added tonight gets their key holder tonight.
- Clearer import summaries. Bringing in clients says that your Time To Pet tags landed in the Skills column as badges that do not limit sitters, and lists them on the Client Flags tab so you only mark the few that matter. The staff import says which sitters gained a skill from a mapped flag.
- Who could not be matched, by name. When a Daily Summary has clients not on your Clients tab yet, the answer now names them and says how to bring them in, instead of saying they are listed somewhere you cannot see.
- Saving your route page link. If Google says it could not read from storage while you save the link, the box now explains why: your browser is signed in to more than one Google account. It tells you to use a window signed in to just the owner's account. Show my button also works with a Google Workspace link.
- Pins say they were made. Pinning visits from Compare first now says so even when the rest of the day stays as it was.
- Small page fixes. A busy workbook during Mark out or Mark in now says so instead of blanking the day. Rename works after saving a sitter. Escape closes the sheets and dialogs. The reroute calendar fits a phone.
- Smaller fixes from a full check. Revenue brought in leaves out visits still ahead and cancelled visits with nothing charged, and says so. Files you choose read accented names correctly. A screen you have open stays open while the page refreshes in the background. The week grid's cells are easier to tap.
8 October 2026
Version 2026.10.08.116- Keeps your bookings all week. Fewest changes now keeps Time To Pet's sitter on every day ahead, not just today. If you had set Keep Time To Pet's Sitter For to a number of days in Settings, that number still applies; left blank, it now means the whole week.
- Driving between visits. Mileage and drive time on the page count driving between visits, not the drive from home.
- Repair My Tabs. The spreadsheet menu item that used to be called Update My Workbook has a clearer name. Updates still come from the Update button.
- Smaller fixes. Pet taxi runs no longer count as walks. Holding accounts are not listed as unknown sitters. Group walk names keep your capitals.
- New setting for dogs: Last visit of the day no earlier than. The bedtime drop-in for a dog left alone overnight no longer lands at 4 PM because that is when the Evening block begins. Set the earliest it may start (say 7:00 PM); the Time To Pet list gives you the new time. It only moves a visit booked for 4 PM or later, for a dog with a visit again tomorrow morning: two middays stay middays, and an owner home by 7 keeps dinner at 4.
- New setting: Keep each sitter's day together. Settings, Keep each sitter's day together: Off, A little or A lot. With it on, the plan counts the time a sitter spends waiting between visits, so part-timers are far less likely to get a visit at 6 AM and another at 4 PM. Try A little first, then press Reroute.
- A Daily Summary only sets who works on its own day. A summary that opens with an overnight that began the evening before no longer marks everyone else off for that evening's day.
- Clearer when no summary is pasted. On a day with no Daily Summary pasted yet, the names at the top say so, instead of saying people were not on the summary.
- A clearer Reports & Metrics screen, with miles by sitter. The scorecard is tiles now, the way the demo shows it, and under it four cards for the reports most owners open first, each with its headline. A new tile shows the miles each sitter drove in the last 30 days, and each sitter's card on the Routes page shows their minutes and miles between visits for the day.
- Backup keys stay backups. A key marked (backup) or (emergency), wherever it is kept, never sends anyone to collect or return it. Clients with No Key is Required ticked in Time To Pet keep their keys on record as backup only, every night.
- Booked time that isn't a visit stays put. A groom at your salon, admin time or a meeting, booked to a sitter and set as not a visit, now holds that time on their day before anything is planned, so no visit lands on top of it. One booked to a groomer or another holding account stays off the plan without a warning.
- Faster Shifts screen. Marking someone in or out on the week grid saves straight away instead of re-planning that day on every tap. Press Reroute on the day when you are ready. A call-out for today still re-plans on the spot.
- Skills in Settings. Settings › Staff now has a Skills column, so you can see and change everyone's skills in one place.
- A cleaner route page. Sitter cards look like the demo: white, the sitter's color on the name and the edge, hours in gray, and the day's size at the right (stops, time with pets, driving). The day's totals are two pills at the top.
- Send from Time To Pet in one click. A button for your browser's bookmarks bar (Set up, on the route page). Press it on Time To Pet's Daily Summary, a report or your requests list and the page is sent to Route Companion, no copy and paste.
- Questions asked on the page. Every Are you sure? and every box to type into now opens on the route page itself. Some browsers silently blocked the old pop-ups, so a tap could look like it did nothing.
- One trip to the office, not two. A sitter collecting a key another sitter left at the office now picks up any other office keys on the same stop.
- Time frames without hours. If your Daily Summary names a time frame Route Companion has no hours for (Bedtime, say), the paste tells you, and puts the name on the Time Blocks tab for you to fill in once.
- Clearer reasons. A visit booked to someone not on today's routes now says why: not working today, riding along with a mentor, or no address on the map.
6 October 2026
Version 2026.09.24.108- Launch. Route Companion went on sale.
- Easier setup. Pick your time zone from a list. Bring in your pets. Check that updates are on from Set up. Mark a holding account (Admin, Unassigned) as not a sitter. Hide the Getting set up card when you are done.
- Time off that matches real life. A sitter off from 7 AM to 9 PM on a 6 AM to 10 PM shift counts as off for the day, not as two short shifts.
- On-call services. A service like Daily Manager can keep the sitter free instead of blocking their time.
